Special Update deep low and cold outbreak Oct 30th-Nov 3rd 2022 G’Day everyone, thought I would whip this one out as we have a fairly significant few days of weather to come, this is the big deep cut off I have been expecting sometime this month, the good news is at least the low will dive away very quickly to the SE however the bad news is this diving action will sling back a lot of cold air hard around the back side of the broad upper longwave with a massive cold pool to impact the state and much of SE Australia from 31st to the 2nd but especially focused around two fronts, one around the mid-afternoon of the 31st and a secondary one roughly early hours of the 1st. The coldest air then comes up behind this second front, with conditions reminiscent of mid-July so I strongly advise those with freshly shorn lambs and sheep to find shelter for them as the combinations of strong and squally cold winds and frequent showers, will be absolutely freezing for them leading

October 2022 update SA *Forecast prepared between October 17th 19th 2022] Review: G’Day everyone, apologies for the lateness in this mid-month update, had the wife’s 40th birthday on the weekend just gone by and it’s been a busy time getting the place looking tip-top, from painting the inside to getting the lawn like a bowling green. Then before you know it the day is over, and you are left with one big mess! But a great time was had by all and just now I've got some horrendous sciatica, wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy so sitting and typing is not ideal, but the update must be sent out so standing and typing will have to do. Now onto the weather and boy has it been active, a complete horror story for VIC and N TAS as well as large portions of inland NSW, especially just west of the Great Divide. Multiple strong upper troughs have continued to tap into tropical moisture from both the Indian and the Coral Sea, inducing

We now approach a critical month in the grand scheme of things, with the potential for significant events as mentioned from the last couple of updates. Firstly though, a look back at how September panned out and it was great to see a wet month for the most part across the state as expected. Numerous regions received above average rainfall but no doubt the best performed areas were the Riverland, Eastern half of the Mallee and the southern NE Pastoral – areas that have struggled for good rainfall for a very long time. The most significant rain event occurred during the evening of the 20th with a substantial rainband mixed with isolated thunderstorms sweeping SSE before getting the pivot and coming back the other way before weakening.
